PLEASE CHECK BACK SOON!
Ok, time for a craft post!
For those of you who don't know me personally, I'm one of those people who is incredibly creative. I'm also one of those people who gets distracted very easily - a condition we call "Hey, look! Something shiny!" Because of this, I tend to bounce from one creativity to another with incredibly ease and nothing getting completed. In the storage unit right now I have about 3 small plastic tubs and a portable craft case of papercraft supplies - card stock, hole punches, stickers, ribbon, etc. In various corners of Mum's place I have tubs and shopping bags of sewing supplies - mostly fabric that I've bought in the last six months that I'm absolutely going to make something with. Some day.
My current obsession at the moment is crocheting. You guessed it, there is a tub and a basket of yarn and half made blankets all over the place. The intention is to finish it all and put it up for sale on Etsy. One of my commitments this year is to put action behind my "intentions". My life is full of "ideas" that never got any action behind them. Get the feeling my business mentor shakes his head at me a lot...?
So, I'm putting it out here for my small band of readers to keep me accountable! I am currently crocheting these totally adorable little tops and dresses. If you're into crocheting and want an easy pattern to follow to get the idea, this is where I learnt the foundation pattern.

The yarn I'm using at the moment is Moda Vera Portsea Cotton, but I've also made some thicker tops using Marvel Stallion acrylic yarn. I have a Spotlight store in the same centre as my part time job, so it's far too easy for me to wander over and find myself with a couple of new skeins of yarn. Or quarter meters of fabric for hair bands and bows. I probably need to exercise a little more control.
When it comes to crocheting there are some things I have to take into consideration. First of all, I have rheumatoid arthritis that effects the joints in my hands. If I'm having a moderate - high pain day then crocheting is out. The other thing is I've committed to a lot of things this year so far, so I need to prioritise my time. I don't really watch a lot of TV - except if I'm in the lounge and Mum is watching Family Feud or The Nanny - so I don't have that kind of time to crochet while the TV is on. However, I do listen to several audios each day from the mentorship program, so I generally have a 45min - 1hr stretch to crochet while I'm listening, and I find that there is not a lot of strain on my hands for that period of time. I'm also currently listening to The Delusion of Passion audio book, and I'll often crochet for a chapter or two of that. It's easy to fit it into time when I'm sitting down listening to my apps, so I've restricted myself to only crocheting in that time so I'm not straining my hands or my under-valuing my time with other tasks.
So, I am setting the goal to have 4 crochet tops and dresses on Etsy by the end of January, and I'm calling on my little community here to keep me accountable. I'd love to hear what craft projects people are working on at the moment, and I'd also love to get comments on Instagram, Facebook and here keeping me on track towards this little goal of mine!
