It's Spring in Australia! Yay! Cheer! Get Excited!
We have had a really good winter in Melbourne this year, and I am well and truly done of it! The cherry blossoms have been out for a few weeks now, and the days have gradually been getting a little warmer. I am very much ready for more Vit D and sunshine!
Because it's the 1st of September, it is also the first day of #sugarfreeseptember. My bestie posted this on Facebook yesterday and there are quite a few of our peer group taking part. With the lifestyle I follow I'm not supposed to have refined sugar or artificial sweeteners at all, and I watch how much natural sugar I'm consuming. So you think this would be an easy thing for me to do, right? Nup. About four weeks ago I started a three week "I'm going to eat what ever I want" binge. Not a great idea, but hey I'm human too! So while I've been pretty good for the last week, I did eat 6 lollies in class yesterday because our Tutor likes to spoil those of us who actually attend. This challenge is a way for me to re-start my discipline when it comes to food.
Cass over at Live It, Do It started this challenge 2 years ago. This year she has posted a photo challenge for each day of September. This is a way for everyone to take part in #sugarfreeseptember, and also keep motivated and connected as a community. Jump over to her site (here) and get some friends together to give it a go!
Aunty Button is now on Instagram! The link is on the Contacts page, and each day I will be uploading a photo related to the challenge. I look forward to being flooded with new followers!
I can promise that your body will thank you for this, and you will feel great at the end! *
*Note: If you're a sugar-addict (like I was before paleo) going cold turkey may give you some withdrawal symptoms. I had a shocking headache for 3 days and felt like I'd been hit by a bus. Once my body adjusted though I felt fantastic. If this happens to you, do a bit of research on ways to work through it. Also, if you have any health issues related to diet please consult your doctor before making any big changes.
